- LABELS PLUS! INSTRUCTIONS

- Welcome to the Labels Plus! program. Labels Plus! is a very easy to
- use, highly productive, Envelope, Shipping Label and Address Label
- printing program. Designing your own special Labels in the Design
- Label section is easy and quick.
-
- INSTALLING LABELS PLUS! ON HARD DISK!
-
- Insert Disk in Drive A or B. To Install on Drive C from Drive A
- type <INSTALAC> and press the <ENTER> Key. From Drive B type
- <INSTALBC> and press the <ENTER> key. To install on Drive D from
- Drive A type <INSTALAD> and press the <ENTER> key. From Drive B
- type <INSTALBD> and press the <ENTER> key. A Directory called
- LAB will be created on your Hard Disk and all the files will be
- copied to the LAB Directory.

- LOADING THE LABELS PLUS! PROGRAM!
-
- Typing <LABEL> while in the LAB directory will load and run the
- Labels Plus program.
-
- After the Main Menu is on the screen we suggest the following
- procedure to get started using Labels Plus!.
-
- 1. Go to ENTER SET UP/ADVERTISING DATA. Follow the instructions on
- entering your Return Address, Advertising Data and printing
- adjustments.
-
- 2. Go to ADDRESS RECORDS and enter addresses.
-
- 3. Go to ENVELOPE DATA SECTION and follow instructions on pertaining to
- Envelopes.
-
- 4. Go to SEARCH AND MANUAL OPTIONS. Read the Search and Manual Options
- and print out some envelopes on plain paper. Try the different
- options.
-
- If you follow the above four procedures you will know how Labels Plus!
- works and the Shipping Label and Address Label sections will be easy.
-
- To Print Out these instructions use the Print Manual option at the
- beginning of the program. Printer will stop at end of each page.
-
- Labels Plus! uses Printer Port LPT1.
-
- ENTER SET UP/ADVERTISING DATA
-
- From the MAIN MENU select <5. SET UP> and press <ENTER>. This will
- take you to the section where you enter the Return Address you want
- printed on the Envelopes and Shipping Labels, plus all adjustments
- needed to print correctly. The <SET UP> section will look like the
- following:
-
- 1. Name : (Note! You do not
- 2. Street : have to erase Old
- 3. City/State/Zip : Data just type
- 4. Optional 4th Line : over and save. To
- 5. Line 1 - Advertisement (Envelope) : Blank a line just
- 6. Line 2 - Advertisement (Envelope) : press Space Bar
- 7. Line Feeds between Envelopes : 12 and <ENTER> key
- 8. Envelope Size Adjustment. (Upper) : 4 and save.
- 9. Spaces To Center Address (Envelope) : 40
- 10. Line Feeds between Shipping Labels : 4
- 11. Print (TO:) on Shipping Labels Y/N : N
- 12. Choose Record File 1,2,3,4,5 : 1
- 13. Print envelopes w/Laser Prntr? Y/N : N
- 14. Left Margin. Address Labels : 5

- 1,2,3,4 Enter Return Name and Address on lines 1 to 3 that you want
- printed on the Envelopes and Shipping Labels. Use the Optional 4th
- Line if needed. Enter spaces before typing to adjust left margin.
-
- 5,6 (Optional!) Enter a Two Line Advertisement or Greeting on Lines 5
- & 6. This will print out between the Return Address and Postage Area.
-
- 7. Enter Number of Line Feeds needed between printed Envelopes.
-
- 8. LABELS PLUS will print almost any size Envelope by adjusting the
- Line Feeds in Lines 7 & 8. Line 8 (Upper) adjusts the Line Feeds
- between the Return Address and Addressed To.
-
- 9. Line 9 is used to Center the Address To on the Envelope.
- 10. Line 10 adjusts the Line Feeds between Shipping Labels.
- 11. Line 11 gives you the option of printing (TO:) on Shipping Labels.
-
- 12. Use only File Number 1 unless you have a Hard Disk or have Disk
- Drives that accept 1.2m or 1.4m HD Disks. See Multiple Record Files
- section at the end of this manual. If you have created more Record
- Files then choose a Record File that will be your HOME FILE. Anytime
- Labels Plus asks for a Record File Number, if you just press the
- <Enter> key, the HOME RECORD FILE will be used.

- 13. Labels Plus! is an excellent envelope printing program for HP
- LaserJets. Answer Y to this prompt and set your Laser printer
- to Landscape, Com10 to print out envelopes.
-
- 14. Use to adjust the left margin when printing address labels.
-
- ADDRESS RECORDS
-
- From the Main Menu Select <6. ADDRESS RECORDS> and Press <ENTER> Key.
- The Address Record Section will look like the following:
-
- 1. VIEW NAMES
- 2. SEARCH/VIEW/CHANGE/DELETE
- 3. ENTER DATA IN A RECORD
- 4. PRINT RECORD#/NAME LIST
- 5. DELETE RECORDS
- 6. CREATE FILES
- 7. FILE STATISTICS

- 1. VIEW NAMES - This option lets you view the Record Number, Code and
- Name of a list of Records you choose. For example if you want to see
- if there are any Blank Records you can use in Record Numbers 1 to 50
- then enter 1 for beginning Record and 50 as the ending Record. Records
- 1 to 50 will show on the screen.
-
- 2. SEARCH/VIEW/CHANGE/DELETE - With this option you can search on any
- line for a Record. When the Record is found it will show on the
- screen. You can View/Change Data or Delete the Record. Selecting <1.
- Continue> will bring up all records that are equal to what you
- entered.
-
- 3. ENTER DATA IN A RECORD - The following Line Prompts will come up
- one at a time and look like the following:
-
- RECORD #?
- CODE
- NAME
- ADDRESS
- CITY/STATE
- OPTIONAL
- ZIP CODE
-
- Press <ENTER> Key after each entry.
-
- a. RECORD# - Enter the Record Number you want to use.
-
- b. CODE - LABELS PLUS SORTS ONLY on the CODE Line. If you want to
- print Records in ascending Zip Code order then enter the Zip Code
- here. The Prt Series option will only search for numbers on the Code
- Line. If you just press the <ENTER> Key then the word <NoCode> will be
- entered on the CODE Line. Any combination of Letters and Numbers can
- be used.

- c. Enter the NAME and ADDRESS. Use the OPTIONAL 4th line if needed.
-
- d. ZIP CODE - For United States addresses enter the zip code on the zip
- code line.Do not use any Dashes or Spaces in the Zip Code. For Example
- if you have a 9 digit Zip Code then enter it as 917112506. When you
- import addresses the zip code will automatically be entered here. If you
- have foreign addresses then do not enter anything on the zip code line.

- e. When you have finished press the <ENTER> Key to save the data to
- disk. If you do not wish to continue, then when the prompt asks you
- for another Record Number just press the <ENTER> Key to Quit.
-
- NOTE! If you use option <3. ENTER DATA IN A RECORD> and you enter a
- wrong Record Number or you wish to cancel then go to the ZIP CODE
- prompt and enter a X and the Data you entered will be canceled.
-
- If for any reason you leave the Name and Address Blank and the Record
- is saved, you must use the Delete feature and Delete that Record or a
- Blank Record will print out when using the PRINT SERIES option in the
- Envelope, Shipping or Address Label sections.
-
- 4. PRINT RECORD#/NAME LIST - This option will print out the Record
- Number, Code and Name.
-
- 5. DELETE RECORDS - This gives you the option of Deleting one or more
- Records. To Delete One Record make the Beginning and Ending Record
- number the same. See Multiple Record Files on Page 6.
-
- 6. CREATE FILES - This option will Create Record Files 1,2,3,4 and 5.
- Enter the Number of the File you wish to create and it will be done
- automatically. The program disk you received has Record File 1 already
- on it. There is not any room for more Files on this disk.
-
- 7. FILE STATISTICS - This option will show how many blank and active
- records in a file. It will also print the first ten available blank
- record numbers at the top of the screen. Use when adding addresses.
-
- SEARCH AND MANUAL OPTIONS
-
- In the Envelope, Shipping Label and Address Label sections you will
- have a Bar Menu showing the following options:
-

- LABELS PLUS WILL ASK FOR A RECORD FILE NUMBER. JUST PRESSING THE
- <ENTER> KEY WILL USE THE HOME RECORD FILE, OR ENTER FILE NUMBER YOU
- CHOOSE.
-
- 1. Manl/Recd# - Selecting this option allows you to type in the Name,
- Address and Zip Code Manually. The 3rd Line of the Address must have
- Data in it.
-
- If you do not want to type in the Data Manually then enter a Record
- Number on the 1st Line and that Record will be called from the Data
- Base and appear on the screen ready for printing.
-
- 2. Srch/Prt - This option allows you to search for Records on any
- line. For Line 1 up to 18 characters. Lines 3,4,5 up to 25 and Line 6
- up to 9. LABELS PLUS will search and print all the Records that Equal
- what you entered on that Line Number on screen. You can then print
- or select another record. You can search for any combination of
- numbers and letters. When printing address labels you will have the
- option of printing any amount of each label, with or without viewing.

- 3. View/Sel - This option allows you to View part or all the Records
- in the Record File, and Select up to 300 Records for printing.
-
- 4. Print/Sel - Print Selections will print all the Records that were
- Selected in the View/Sel option. You can use this option more than
- once to print more than one list of your Selections. Selections will
- be automatically cancelled only when you enter the View/Sel option
- again or End the program.
-
- 5. Prt Series - If you enter a Beginning and an Ending Record Number
- and DO NOT enter any Codes you will be printing by Record Number only.
-
- If you have entered Zip Codes or Numbers on the Code Line in the
- Address Records Section and want to print by Zip Code then enter the
- Beginning and Ending Code. LABELS PLUS can sort the Zip Codes or
- Numbers and print the Records in ascending order from the Record
- Numbers you specified. If you have a mixture of 5 and 9 digit Zip
- Codes, make the last 4 digits of the Ending Code <9999>. Example:
- 91711=917119999.

- ENVELOPE DATA SECTION
-
- Select <1. ENVELOPE> from the Main Menu. The first Menu to appear will
- look like the following:
-

- 1. If you want your Return Address to print on the Envelope, select
- <Return Address> and press <ENTER> Key and the Return Address will
- appear on the screen which means it will be printed. The Same is true
- when the <Advertise> option is selected.
-
- Envelopes are very difficult to print in most printers. If you are
- printing single Envelopes, put the Flap of the Envelope through first
- to lessen the thickness. You may have to disable the Paper Out Sensor
- on your printer.
-
- You can print 6 x 9 Envelopes or larger by making Envelope adjustments
- in the <SET UP> Section. See explanation of Lines in SET UP section.
-
- When you are finished with the first Menu shown above Select
- <Continue> and press the <ENTER> Key and the Search Options Menu will
- appear on the screen. See explanations of the Search and Print
- Options. Notice the Help statements at the bottom of the screen.
-
- SHIPPING LABEL SECTION
-
- 1. The Shipping Label Section operates the same as the Envelope
- Section. You have the option of printing the Return Address and Center
- Lines. You can use any of the Search or Manual Options in the Shipping
- Label section.
-
- ADDRESS LABEL SECTION
-
- The Address Label Section operates the same as the Envelope and
- Shipping Label Sections. See SEARCH AND MANUAL OPTIONS for explanation
- of the differant options in the address label section.
-
- The Address Label Section prints Labels 3 1/2 x 15/16 inches.
- Use the design label section for larger or special labels.
-
- DESIGN LABEL-Dot Matrix/Laser Printers
-
- You can Design your own Labels or Post Cards up to Legal Post Card
- size. When printing with a dot matrix printer, the printer must be
- in the IBM emulation mode to print out the graphics. Select EDIT
- from the menu, then press F8 for the graphics mode.
-

- 1. Edit - Selecting <EDIT> takes you into the Edit Section. Use Cursor
- Keys to move around. Use Delete Key to delete characters or to move a
- sentence from right to left. Pressing the Insert Key in front of a
- sentence will move the sentence from left to right. When you are
- through entering data press the F10 Key to return to the Menu.

- 2. Specs - Enter Number of Last Line used for your new label. Enter
- Number of Blank Lines needed between printed Labels. The option of
- using Special Print Commands is available. Six Commands can be used,
- with each Command in effect on Line Numbers you choose. Enter the CHR$
- CODES for each Command.
-
- 3. Save - Select the <SAVE> option to save your new Label including
- the Specs. You will have to give your Label a Name up to eight
- characters long. Labels Plus! will automatically add the extension of
- <.WCS> to the Name for saving to disk. This extension is automatic, DO
- NOT type in this extension at any time.
-
- 4. Clear - Selecting the <CLEAR> option will clear the Edit Screen of
- all data.
-
- 5. Print - Select the <PRINT> option when you want to print what is on
- the Edit Screen. You will also have the option of choosing how many
- you wish to print.
-
- 6. List - Use the <LIST> option to List and Erase the Files you have
- saved.
-
- 7. Get - Use the <GET> option to bring to the Edit Screen a File you
- have saved. Use <Form F> for laser printers.
-
- 8. Quit - Selecting the <QUIT> option will take you back to the Main
- Menu.
-
- MULTIPLE RECORD FILES (127000 for each record file)
-
- You can create four more Record Files, each with a capacity of 1000
- records, giving Labels Plus a total capacity of 5000 records. Extra
- files on floppy disks can be made with no limit.
-
- 1. From the Main Menu select <Address Records> and press <Enter> key
- which will take you to the Menu in the Address Records section. Select
- number <6. Create Files> from the Menu and press <Enter> key. The
- Labels Plus program comes with Record File Number 1 already created.
- Enter File Number you want to create and press <Enter>. The Record
- File will be created automatically.

- Number 1 Shows in Disk Directory as CUST1
- Number 2 CUST2
- Number 3 CUST3

- SPECIAL PRINTER COMMANDS
-
- The registered version has its own special printer command section.
- This version can also send special command codes to the printer
- using the DESIGN LABEL section. Select <DESIGN LABEL> from the Main
- Menu. After the Design Label section appears on the screen follow
- the instructions below. (For Dot Matrix printers only.)
-
- 1. Select <SPECS> and press the <ENTER> key. A prompt will appear on
- screen asking you <LAST LINE NUMBER USED ?>. Enter here how many
- commands you want to send. If you want to send one command then
- enter a <1>, two commands enter a <2>, and press the <ENTER> key.
- For an example we will use the Letter Quality print command only,
- so we will enter a <1>.

- 2. The next prompt will ask <HOW MANY BLANK LINES BETWEEN LABELS?>.
- Do not enter anything, just press the <ENTER> key.
-
- 3. <DO YOU WANT TO USE PRINTER CODES? Y/N> will appear on the screen.
- Enter a <Y> for this prompt.
-
- 4. < CHR$( )CHR$( )CHR$( )CHR$( ) IN EFFECT ON LINE > will
- appear. Enter printer command codes like the following and press the
- <ENTER> key until you reach the end of the line and enter in
- effect on line <1>. If you are entering two printer commands
- then the second command would be in effect at line <2>. The following
- is an example of the Letter Quality print command.

- CHR$(27 ) CHR$(120) CHR$(1 ) CHR$( ) IN EFFECT ON LINE 1

- When the next command line appears just press <ENTER> for menu.
-
- 5. Select <SAVE> and press <ENTER> key to save the commands for
- future use. Name the file you want this set of commands in. For
- example: Name the file LQON for the command to turn Letter Quality
- printing on or LQOFF for the command to turn Letter Quality printing
- off.

- 6. Select <PRINT> and press <ENTER> key. The prompt will ask how
- many? Enter a <1> and press <ENTER> key and the commands you set
- up will be sent to the printer. Select <MENU> and return to the
- Main Menu.

- 7. For future use, select <DESIGN LABEL> from the Main Menu. Select
- <GET> from the Design menu, enter the name of the file you saved,
- then follow the instructions in number 6 above.
